Avondale won the Simon Cup after a sudden death playoff against Templeton at Waimairi Beach yesterday. Avondale last won the Cup in 1963. The match was tied 4 games all after regulation play and the first pair to finish with a half played off for the title. Craig Prebble defeated Philip Cowan on the first extra hole.
